ISEE Commentary at Environmental Epidemiology: 'Climate action has valuable health benefits'
|
Our latest commentary underscores the crucial role of health considerations in assessing the advantages of climate actions—an especially relevant topic in the context of COP28. As we reflect on this important global conference, it becomes increasingly clear that there is a need for the health community to continue to highlight that reducing fossil fuel usage and mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions hold far-reaching benefits, not just for the environment but also for public health. In this piece, we explore how actions to reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from energy production, industry, transportation, and agriculture can also bring major benefits to public health. Discover how these actions not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also yield significant benefits for public health. And learn more about the substantial economic advantages arising from healthcare savings and enhanced population health, often surpassing the costs associated with climate mitigation measures.
