Expert Consultation: Prioritizing Evidence Gaps on Air Pollution, Climate Change, and Health
Date/Time
August 16, 2024 - August 25, 2024
Sunday morning, August 25
Event Registration
Event Description
On August 25th morning, Vital Strategies are launching a rapid scoping activity to 1) identify evidence gaps limiting our ability to estimate the health effects of actions to mitigate climate change and 2) policy and regulatory opportunities to be unlocked by filling these gaps. We are calling for those with expertise in climate change and air pollution space to help identify those gaps that may be filled within the next five years. In this session, you will be challenged to share and pinpoint research priorities that align with topics of air pollution, climate change mitigation, and related health outcomes.  See more event details in this flyer.

Expert Consultation: Prioritizing Evidence Gaps on Air Pollution, Climate Change, and Health

About Vital Strategies
Vital Strategies is an international non-governmental organization working in over 70 countries to address the world’s most pressing public health challenges. On our environmental and climate health team, we collaborate closely with policymakers and stakeholders to compile and analyze critical data, raise awareness of pressing environmental health threats, and advocate for innovative policy solutions that control air pollution, mitigate and adapt to climate change, reduce exposure to toxic chemicals, and expand clean energy and transportation options.

About the Event
We are launching a rapid scoping activity to:
  • identify evidence gaps limiting our ability to estimate the health effects of actions to mitigate climate change and
  • policy and regulatory opportunities to be unlocked by filling these gaps.
As part of this effort, we are calling for those with expertise in climate change and air pollution space to help identify those gaps that may be filled within the next five years. By targeting gaps in the literature and current practice, research addressing those shortcomings could improve the breadth, depth, and robustness of assessments of the health impacts of climate mitigation actions. In this session, you will be challenged to share and pinpoint research priorities that align with topics of air pollution, climate change mitigation, and related health outcomes. The consultation will be designed for experts to:
  • connect with experts and potential stakeholders within the climate change and air pollution space
  • identify the evidence gaps and priorities in the climate change and air pollution space
  • recognize key factors in the climate change and air pollution space that should not be overlooked
The consultation will be held on Sunday morning, August 25 in Santiago. Participation will be limited to facilitate an interactive discussion.
